Do you have a great idea for an article?
I like to write multi-source articles about issues that affect the creative community. Many news articles on SewMcCool are magazine length rather than typical “blog length” articles. If there’s an issue you’ve been burning to know more about, or if you have a great tip to share that will blow our minds, please contact me. As a journalist, I approach articles with the purpose of educating and informing readers.
However, since I’m also *in* the sewing community (unlike a newspaper or television reporter who isn’t involved in their topic…at least publicly), it’s fair to say that I can’t be completely unbiased. So articles will be injected with personal vignettes and some opinion. I’m not out to burn anyone, though. If I’m interviewing you for an article, I’ll tell you that’s what I’m doing. If we’re chatting as friends, don’t worry about being quoted here unless I get back with you to specifically discuss an article. I’m not out to say “gotcha!”
Sometimes I’ll write about a topic and take a position you either don’t agree with, or would like to clarify. And that’s great, because further discussion here opens the door to more discussion. I know it’s not personal. Either contact me or make a thoughtful comment. I hope you’ll understand that I’m trying to share information with readers, so articles will be balanced as much as possible. And sometimes posts are edited based on reader comments.
So if you’re fine with my style of articles here….please, I want to hear from you! Please contact me at Sew McCool. I can be reached at deanna [at] sewmccool [dot] com. I can’t wait to hear what news or tips you’ve got!
